Positive Affirmations Challenge
There is much to be gained by utilizing the power of positive affirmations. We will explore the many ways that healthy self-talk can help improve your mental well-being and lead to better overall health in future posts on this important topic.
Today, I'm challenging myself, and all of you to implement positive affirmations into your daily routine for 7 days, and "sharing," how doing so, has impacted you.
Keep reading for a simple exercise to get you started.
- Choose 1-3 positive affirmations. (You are worthy,. You are loved. You matter. You've got this, You are awesome. I love you, are a few examples.) An online search will yield other positive affirmations for you to choose from.
- If possible, stand in front of a mirror or use a hand-held one, or even the rear-view mirror in your vehicle.
- Take 3 full breaths, inhaling deep, and holding your breath to a count of 7, and exhaling with an open mouth to a count of 4.
- Wiggle your arms and do a neck stretch to relieve any tension you may be feeling.
- Let go of any preconceived ideas that you will look silly or foolish. Do your best to just trust the process. It works, I can assure you from my own experience.
- Smile at your reflection.
- Insert your name first in the positive affirmation to get your brain's attention. Repeat for each positive affirmation, (don't skip this important step.)
- Speak the positive affirmation out loud! This creates a lasting memory file in your brain.
- Do this exercise at least 3 times a day, more if your schedule allows, or, you need a quick and easy way to boost your mood.
- Take note of how this positive self-talk makes you feel in the moment, and throughout your day. You may wish to put this information in a journal for future reference.
- Share your experience with this positive affirmation challenge in the comments section.

I chose: Julie, I love you. Julie, you are awesome. Julie, you matter. Julie, you can do this. Julie, I believe in you.
ReplyDeleteYes, I threw 2 extra affirmations in. Once I started, they just kept coming. Ha! I also gained an audience of 2 fur babies who rushed into the bathroom to "listen" for the word, "chewies" I'm sure. Lol!
I felt good and also giggled some afterwards. Pretty good imo.
In my rush to share, I forgot to input my name. Though, I guess I did in the comment part, didn't I? 😅
DeleteAwww I love those!
DeleteI won this raffle basket at work. And it had a "best part of my day" journal in it. Ive been doing it before bed.i know its not affirmations but in it I write things that remind me of good stuff like "compliments from my coworkers" "nailing nursing validations" etc. Then it has a "Im grateful for" section as well. Its really helping me.
That is awesome Cel!
DeleteI have a gratitude journal as well and make notes of good things and words said to me by others. Good stuff!
Overall, I found this "challenge" great! I definitely get a "boost" in dopamine while saying the affirmations. I'm going to make this a daily "activity." 🌞
