The Enfield Lookout is named because it overlooks what used to be the town of Enfield (which was one of the four towns that was flooded/disincorporated to make the watershed and drinking supply for the city of Boston)

I hiked down the "Shoreline trail" and did see part of a cellar hole down there. I have seen lots of cellar holes off of trails in the Quabbin, it is quite a thing to see! Im pretty sure it was also loaded with huckleberry bushes too, though, I wasn't entirely sure they were that and did not want to take the chance.

A flying grasshopper hitched a ride on my tshirt for part of the trail. Fortunately, a black water snake was more spooked by me walking by than I was by it (they are poisonous) and slithered quickly away from the trail. 

After the trail I just enjoyed the view of the lookout and some great conversation with friendly strangers waiting for their overheated motorcycle to cool down. What a great first day of vaca!
