Your Spirit Needs Nourishment Too
By: Julie M. June 22, 2023.
We all know the importance of eating nutritious foods for health.
Do you know that your spirit also needs regular nutrition for overall health? Neglecting your spirit's need for “nutrition,” can weaken your immune system, cause emotional distress, and increase a feeling of “disconnect” from the people, places, and things you typically in your life.
Try these ideas to provide your spirit with the nourishment it needs for well-rounded health.
- Meditate
- Do yoga
- Walk to clear your mind
- Create a Gratitude Journal
- Get out in nature
- Visit a Museum
- Visit a botanical garden
- Learn something new
- Pursue hobbies
- Schedule lunch with a good friend
- Surround yourself with like-minded people
- Attend church, and events, or go on a religious retreat if you’re so inclined.
- Pray, or speak to the universe.
- How do you nourish your spirit? Share in "comments."
I find that sometimes doing nothing, or not having any regimented plans, is good for spirit.
ReplyDeleteWatch the birds shutter and shake as they indulge in the bird bath.
Notice the chipmunks scurry from their hiddie-holes and run the perimeter of the yard.
Snuggle with a pet - or rub their ears, or give them a massage.
Do a body scan, thanking every part from your toes to the crown of your head for being strong, healthy, able and beautiful. And smile while you do it to keep the gratitude and consciousness flowing.
Sing.
Recite a poem or monologue you know by heart. Or learn one.
Sometimes doing nothing can mean everything…
Being in nature (esp hiking to the top of a mountain or some type of summit)
ReplyDeleteBeing by water
Sitting and listening to the birds chirp outside in the fresh air
Going to bed in clean jammies/linens
Researching and learning new things

Practicing mindfulness.. bring "in the moment" with all my senses
Visiting botanical gardens is def one
Liberating myself by going and just doing something I want to do and not waiting around for anyone to go do it eith! Just knowing I can go do this and enjoy it on my own with my own company and maybe strike up a great conversation with a stranger while Im there!
